Life in Ireland

I really have no idea what was going through my head the last time I bought coffee in Tesco.  I made the ultimate mistake of buying Tesco coffee - it is crap.  Not very descriptive, it is bitter, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth - but it has one redeeming factor - I don’t want to drink any more of it after one mug in the morning.

So yesterday I was waiting for the ferry from Troon, Scotland, to Larne, Ireland.  Just had the pleasure of a few days at “home” in Scotland.  And I thought I would go down to the supermarket I had just passed as I had loads of time till the ferry left.  Yes, I bought coffee, Nescafe once again, not the best but I like it.  And the bloody price, £5 for two very large jars.  We would pay that price for one here in Ireland.  It reminded of being a student.  I would always stop at this supermarket and stock up on the way back each time - food is so cheap in Scotland compared to Ireland.  But everything seems more expensive here than anywhere else I travel to.

This leads me off subject.  In Scotland I end up in Tescos shopping for food; two things about this, they are much cheaper than Ireland for the same products and they are huge in comparisions.  Now the stores here are not small, (if you want to see small supermarkets try Vienna for a year), but the supermarkets have everything from computers to currents, alas not here.

Back to my heading, as you will have noticed I lost the (not very brave) fight against cigarettes.  The problem I am told is that I really don’t want to stop smoking, that I still like the dam things.  I enjoy my cigarettes and coffee in the morning -  two bad habits - but I do enjoy, madness I say.

The last thing for today - check out West Highland Way, I will have some good photos up during the next week or so, I have some study to do first but I will get there.
