Open Coffee Dublin

I trundled along to my first Open Coffee Event this morning in Dublin. I am not a good net worker and have tended to find things like this in other industries tedious in the past.

However I was surprised and my two hours there disappeared quickly. One of the guys that I was speaking to is an energy consultant - it is the first time I have come across this as a profession, and surprisingly I found it interesting. This link takes you to GreenNav’s blog where there is loads of information about saving power - from the simple and easy to the bit more complicated. It is worth a read, and especially topical for me given I just received an electricity bill for €340 for only two month - enough to make me cry.

As for the open coffee itself, the intension of the meeting is to let business people and internet / web workers have a meeting place, where they can exchange ideas, talk about work, and develop friendships and business partnerships. If you are involved in the internet in away it is worth going along to.

Oh, I wish they’d get something like this underway ‘oop North. Seems like a great way to network. As for the energy tips, every little helps - Phoenix gas have hiked their prices up by 30%, no doubt our lekky will follow soon too.
