Rhubarb Recipes

I watched a program on TV tonight about the 1970’s - my God we were so unhealthy.  The amount of drink that was consumed as a matter of course and the amount of food - one interesting fact though on the amount of food.  People ate more, 750 on average more calories per day but were still not a heavy or fat as today - have we become lazy?

However it was the school diners that took me back - rhubarb recipes was one of the things on the school diners - I kinda liked rhubarb but it either had to be as rhubarb crumble of the most unheathy of Glasgow ways and that was raw rhubarb with a poke of sugar to dip it into!

When I think back on some of the stuff we were fed growing up - sandwiches on sugar, now that was my gran and that was her making a treat for us.  Potatoes made from smash - one of favorites with baked beans - oh my God - no wonder I find my eating habits today hard to control sometimes.

Sometimes I get myself into good habits, like this one with some smoothies, but then after a week or so the craving starts for a bowl of custard and some toffee pudding or such like.

Recently I have been on a fruit thing, like blueberry recipes, some great strawberry recipes, even pineapple recipes and some delicious raspberry recipes all great fruit recipes. So these will be part of my attempt at changing the way I and others eat - for instance try some soup recipes for a change - there will be loads of them here soon.
