It is because of this man that I have been to Christ Church evensong – twice! Now to many that may not be a surprise, but to those who know me and my dislike of religions, well that says it all…
I do have a laugh at this dislike sometimes. I own a website on the Camino de Santiago – a website all about various pilgrimages to Santiago de Compostela in north west Spain. Go figure, oh yeah and I have walked it twice – 780km.
However back to evensong. Without the encouragement of Dermot I would never have ventured into a church to listen to music, I mean come on, do you have a life? Anyway, it kills me to say, the choral evensong is beautiful, it is relaxing, and there almost feels something esoteric about it – maybe the music speaks to my soul – ah keep forgetting I don’t have a soul, it is only something that religious folk own.
Here is their website – so if you want more info head over there, just one last thing about it. The bloody Christians charge to get into the church normally – wonder what their pal Jesus would have thought of that – but if you are going into to evensong there is no charge – thank God?
