Dragons Den in Ireland

by Leslie on March 29, 2011

As can be seen I have not written here for a while, sometimes I feel like I have nothing to say and at others I have too much and saying it would just get me in trouble – some bloggers don’t mind that and even chase it – but I do like a quiet life a lot of the time.

I watched Dragons Den last weekend for the first time in an age.  When it was on in the UK I never used to miss it and then it was the same in Ireland, but I seemed to have went off TV for quite a while preferring my TV to come by broadband and watch what I want when I want.

But back to Dragons Den, I love Norah Casey and by the looks of the votes on the website so do lots of other viewers.  It is interesting to me to watch a women in business who is still a woman and not acting like a man – this one is an on-going discussion in our house and I am sure some of my views are coloured by being male and growing up in Glasgow.  (I would rather think that than just admit to being chauvinist.)

Anyway she is great, interesting to watch and listen to.  This is the thing that caught me about Dragons Den in the beginning – the questions that they would ask.  It is interesting to see what they consider important.  So much so on Sunday night I was talking to the TV when the inventor came on looking for 50,000 for 5% of his non-existent business.  And there was me asking him how he managed to value his business at that price.

One of the other interesting points is that working in the web area myself and building sites I am always interested in the value that owner put on their sites as I know what it cost in time and energy to build most of what I see.

The only problem I have with Dragons Den is that it is not on often enough.  It only has a short run once a year and I am sure the audience would easily watch a lot more of the show much more often.  Roll on Sunday and we will get to see more.
