Finding it Hard to Write

by Leslie on May 1, 2010

I don’t know what happened but writing for fun stopped some time ago.  It used to be easy to just sit down and pour out my mind.  But now it is one of the main things in my work life and so maybe there is less fun.

Stop Thinking and Do It

So I have been wondering, thinking, how do I get back into writing again?  I rack my brain, lying here on the couch thinking to myself – why don’t I write any more?  And eventually the solution comes back to me again.

Stop bloody thinking.  Just write, see what happens and get back into the habit again.  I have a friend who writes travel books and another who write for one of the Irish Soaps – and they tell me their experience is just writing through the problem times – no thinking about the problem too much – just take some action.

So What Next?

Well I have started once again to make lists of topics.  I used to carry around a little note book and write down post ideas when they came to me.  I still do something similar with work ideas but have stopped doing it for all my own websites, so the note book is back in my jacket pocket and hopefully there will be more here on a more regular basis.

I am writing this using Windows Live Writer a great little desktop app for accessing my blogs.  It also brings the page layout to my desktop when I am writing, and one thing I notice this afternoon is the horrible colours that I am using for the titles after the main title.  Time to change them.

Another thing I have just noticed is the category list, my god what was I thinking adding all those, time to sort things a little.

Okay the first of being back, hopefully…
