Okay I am hooked – I want an Apple phone. Do I need it? Will I use most of the functions much? Will I write anything on it? The answer to most of these questions is no, but it looks like a great toy!
I met with a bunch of other web workers a while back and they all had their Mac Airs or Mac Pros and their Apple phones at the meetings – more of them were on the table than any Apple store here in Ireland. I left the meeting and stopped at the O2 to get the details – mostly to find out the price. €400 bloody euro they wanted at the time – half the price of an average laptop – there was no way they would be getting me to part with that amount.
So today once again I stopped by the O2 store to see the new Apple phone – before I got as far as the phone the sales person had worked out that it would cost me €99 as an upgrade from my current phone – okay I said you don’t have to tell me anything about the phone, just give me the best model and I will have it now.
But no – they have none left and they don’t expect to have anymore for the next two to three weeks – and I am left wanting one even more – I WANT MY TOY NOW!!!
Now there is also another toy that I have been looking at – the Asus – this will be the next big thing in computers. Notebooks that can fit in a small bag and which only weigh 1kg – another toy I will have before Christmas me thinks – then I start to wonder why? I just like toys – they don’t make me any more productive or help me make more money in business – but hell sometimes it is just great being a consumer.
