Ikea Dublin

Ikea Dublin – afraid not folks, for a change our friends north of that line called a boarder get the chance first for something new.

Don’t blame Ikea – blame the draconian protectionist laws here in the South of Ireland. Not being a native of these shores I quite happily point out its faults to my Irish friends. The Irish Government have tried its best to keep this country in the dark ages and not deal with problems head – as that is not the Irish way – wait until no one is looking is the norm.

Anyway instead of getting you Ikea here in Dublin you will have to drive to Belfast – as many will. I have been surprised at the amount of people that order from Ikea over the internet and some that even travel to the UK to bring stuff back on these one day trips.

Government are meant to be there for the benefit of the people – one would find that hard to see sometimes – though Bertie has today put off his $38k pay rise until we are looking at something else – a tactic Blair perfected in the UK.

Back to Dublin Ikea. The national roads authority has been one of the biggest opponents of the new Ikea store. So who are they? Well the National Roads Authority are funded from your salary. Yip you got it one part of your government is using your money to fight against another.

But this is the best part – You will have to pay to park at Ikea, nowhere else in the world do you have to pay to park at an Ikea, but part of the objection from the National Roads folk (who are still learning how to build decent sized roads) has been overcome by agreeing that you will pay for parking at the store in order to (force) encourage people to use public transport to travel to the store.

Are they FECKING MAD – the whole point of this store is to sell the big stuff, you know furniture – you know the stuff that is heavy! Who is working for who? At this point I want to hit my head off a wall until I can’t think no more.
