Currently I live in Dublin. I have had the opportunity to also live in Prague and Vienna, and I grew up in Glasgow. Life in many ways is much easier in cities. It has always been easy to meet people and make friends, it is easier than outside cities to find good work. However I must be getting old, older perhaps?
I want space. I would like to be near a major city, but I want a house and garden, and not to hear my neighbors come home at night, or the fire engine and police at three in the morning.
I feel like it is never going to happen here in Dublin as there is too much traffic to live outside of the city – the infrastructure of the country broke quite some time ago and is nowhere near repair. I am going this morning to see someone, they are only a few miles aways, but it will take 30 / 45 in the car. Talk radio has become my best friend as I seems to spend a few hours a day in the car just sitting in traffic, that and my new blue tooth connection, so now I try to catch up on calls during what I see as “dead time” – dead time? I am too busy rushing, like everyone else onto the next thing? Maybe.
