Peace Pilgrim

I received a book in the post this morning – it came to me from America – it cost me nothing.  Now that I find strange.  Someone printed this book, stored it, then at my email request they sent it by post to me here in Ireland and it was all free to me.  Odd.

The book is called Peace Pilgrim, it is stories and musings of a woman who walked as a peace pilgrim for 25 years.  I have been reading it since I opened the package.

The first thing that she talks about that stands out is thinking.  I have thought for many years that we humans over-rate our own thinking ability.  That the thinking is king.  When so much of it is really trash, and should be put there.

The Peace Pilgrim talks about not allowing any negative thoughts.  Not a new idea, however expressed in her way it is delightfully simple to read.  I first came across this idea in the 80′s when I was a salesman for an Insurance company.  It was a big thing, positive thinking, believe and you will win.  The company even provided literature on this ideology and some training.  But it was all to make money and the whole idea did not resonate well with me.

You are what you think.  I have a tendency to agree with statement.  But I am like one who is not yet fully convinced.  The only way though it seems to be fully convinced is to try it.

Have a look – follow the link at the top, it is interesting.
