Today I put the Euros back in my pocket, for the last three weeks I have been spending Czech crowns, it has been fun.
For the first time in 15 years I am sad to be going home, strange I did not see this coming. When I lived in Glasgow I had this feeling for a few years before I left on a whim to live in Dublin – one of the best moves I have made in my life – Dublin, Ireland, and the Irish have been very good to me something I will never forget.
But as we sat outside in the garden this morning having breakfast I said “Imagine we just didn’t go back” – I am the one who is pron to this type of thinking more than Anna. This has been a very relaxing holiday even though I have started back on my internet stuff this past week already – just trying to head off the hard landing next week – well tomorrow actually.
During the three weeks we have been here two of them we have stayed in a little village about an hour north of Prague. It is a strange mixture of the 21st century and the past. Most of the village gardens are fairly large and many grow their own fruit and vegetables and use them or store them away for the winter. The stillness is broken morning and evening with the tractors going out to or coming back from the fields – the stars at night are so clear and close like a blanket over our heads that we feel they almost within touching range.
While at the same time the house opposite has a bore hole to ecologically heat their house and their indoor swimming pool. This is not a poor backward area. My internet connection is faster than my own in Dublin.
However we both have plans and commitments at home…
The first few days may be difficult but once back in our routine we will settle back into our fairly comfortable life in the city once again.
Thank goodness for holidays – before we set off here I found myself not able or wanting to write any more, and now it has been fairly hard to stop me – perhaps we should do this a bit more often?
