Walking Holiday in South Bohemia, Czech Republic

by Leslie on August 26, 2010

I have not written here for an age, so now that I am on holiday and doing my best to try and not work, here goes.

We are staying in this pension in Bohemia, it is a converted farm house, A and I would both love one, we have looked before we came here – but we are unsure about country living – that would be such a shock to us.  The pension is great, large rooms, friendly and for my Irish money very reasonable.

But Holidays Are Not Natural

Holidays are difficult.  I work and look forward to having a break, once it happens I feel a bit lost without work – strange.  Not too used to not working and relaxing.  And I suppose that holidays are a twentieth century thing.

Anyway

It is good once I get out and start walking, I do manage to relax and talk and enjoy myself.  Though as A pointed out today the only holidays I like are ones where we are doing something, and that does not include sightseeing.

Today was a little walk of about 12 to 14km, which would be fine normally – but someone put two dam hills in the middle of the walk.  On the last hill, there was even a tower of anther 50 metres that we climbed to see the view over the top of the trees.  Between the sun and the hills I do not want to move again tonight.

This has been our second good walk this week, and a 25km cycle – 25km again not long for a cycle – unless of course you don’t normally cycle and are going up and down hill all day.  My bum is still recovering.

Southern Bohemia in the Czech Republic is great.  There are cycle and walking paths everywhere, it is a great area for an adventure holiday.

Anyway enough for tonight, A is cooking mushrooms that she picked while we were walking today – so this could be my last post forever…

Loved that last line. 100%.
